Teeth-In-A-Day Q & A

What is Teeth-in-a-Day?

Teeth-in-a-Day is a specialized, collaborative process between your dental surgeon and a restorative specialist to replace multiple missing teeth at one time with dental implants. When you have extensive tooth loss due to decay, tooth extraction, periodontal disease, or age-related bone loss, Teeth-in-a-Day offers upper jaw, lower jaw, or whole-mouth restoration in just one visit!

Teeth-in-a-Day allows you to go home with a full, temporary set of teeth, which you retain for several months while your jawbone heals. Once you're healed, your restorative specialist replaces your temporary teeth with your new permanent smile.

What does the Teeth-in-a-Day process entail?

Your Teeth-in-a-Day procedure begins with a high-resolution CT image of your mouth, taken during your initial consultation. This image helps your dental surgeon and restorative dentist plan your treatment ahead of time so that you spend less time in the chair on the day of your procedure.

On the day of your procedure, another adult brings you to the center and drives you home at the end of the day. Your implant surgeon and their team make you comfortable and provide sedation.

Once you're resting comfortably, the team removes all the teeth from your upper jaw, lower jaw, or your whole mouth, and they place four to six implants per jaw. Your surgeon may recommend using platelet-rich fibrin, an additional treatment that can help accelerate healing and lead to lessened recovery time.

After your oral surgery, your restorative dentist works with an in-house lab and creates and attaches your temporary set of teeth. This process ensures that you experience no time without all of your teeth, as your new set is in place when you wake up from sedation.

What happens after the Teeth-in-a-Day procedure?

After your procedure, your jawbone needs to heal and fully integrate your new implants. This process takes up to four months, during which time you see your implant surgeon and restorative doctor multiple times to ensure you're healing well.

Your dental specialists recommend a liquid or extremely soft diet for up to six weeks following your Teeth-in-a-Day procedure to support effective healing. Once you have your permanent restorations, you can eat or drink anything.

Excellent home care and up to two dental cleanings a year with your regular dentist help protect your dental implants and keep your smile looking healthy for a lifetime.
